This is the data provided by Scientific Research and Training Center of Drug Control Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to the words of its Director Khamid Serami, 2.65% of whole population of Iran from 15 to 64 cannot live without drugs.
Researches were carried out in 31 provinces of country. Men make 91% of drug addicted and women 9% relatively. The number of drug addicts and drug dealers in jails make 43% that is less than those not captured. This year 160 men were punished in Iran for drug distribution and sale.
Illicit drug trafficking is one of the major problems in Iran. The Government allocates more than 700 million USD for border security and blockage of illicit drug trafficking from Central Asia, Arab and European countries each year.
