BAN WORKS: CROCODILE REDUCED

20.09.2012

During the recent press point the Director of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation Victor Ivanov said that upon instituting ban on prescription-free sale of codeine-containing medicines the volumes of desomorphine usage have reduced to 50% that proves for the efficiency of counter-narcotic measures for the recent period.

‘Three months have passed since the limitation on free sale of codeine-containing drugs entered into effect. We have the reduction on ‘crocodile’ usage. As well as the reduction on dens offering desomorphine’ – said Ivanov.

The FDCS Head also noted that ban was a desperate measure due to the fact that the desomorphine usage turned into a big disaster of the country. ‘It was a real catastrophe to Russia’ – Ivanov summed.

It is noteworthy that before the ban the desomorphine precursors were sold at more than 60 000 drugstore throughout Russia.
