A Turkish IT-company has worked out special software allowing by means of satellite observation to find plantations of drug - containing crops. For safety reasons, the name of the developer company is kept under close wraps.
Test launchings proved the system’s high efficiency: several days ago the tip of satellite observation helped to carry out a large-scale operation directed to extermination of drug - containing crops plantations in the province of Diyarbakyr. Helicopters, armoured vehicles and about 2,000 police officers took part in the operation.
The raid exposed truly gigantic scale of the crops. It’s the record of the past 30 years. The total value of the plants grown there was over $1.7 billion.
The report on the results of the operation says that it was just the first event in the number of similar pinpoint attacks on drug mafia.
