Since November all Federal Security Service officers of Russia without exception will pass a drug test

The Federal Security Service of Russia compels its officers to pass a test detecting the presence of drugs and psychedelic substances in human blood. The initiative will come into effect in November 2012. It will be obligatory for all officers of the service without any exemption.
The order was signed by Alexandr Bortnikov, the head of the Federal Security Service. It was published in “Rossiyskaya gazeta”. As soon as it comes into effect, not only the service’s officers, but also non-management employees and prospective students of the FSS educational institutions.
Lie detector tests will be added to the standard complex of measures aimed at detecting drug users, which curently includes different types of medical tests. Scheduled check-out will take place twice a year, plus when a new employee is hired. Off-schedule checks will take place when some officer’s behavior is very suspicious or when the officer got infected with hepatitis B and C.
