09.08.2012

The traditional channel of drug supply to Russia – the European one - reinforced its positions for the first half of 2012. So, since the beginning of the year, the Federal Drug Control Service officers have intercepted more than 9 tons of various drugs intended to smuggle from the Old World.

The Federal Drug Control Service report published today says as follows: “there is a significant increase in the drug trafficking from Europe which is the terminal base of heroin supply channels from African Asia and South America. Portugal is also among the leaders of drug trafficking. The FDCS officers have stopped 11 attempts to smuggle drugs from this country, 8 attempts to smuggle them from Great Britain and 7 attempts – from Holland.”

The total amount of drugs intercepted by the FDCS for this period is 9 tons. Among them there are 1.8 tons out of opiates, 6.7 tons of marijuana and cannabis derivatives and 428 of synthetic drugs.
