On 14 July the police of Nicaragua arrested a boat transporting 17 bags of cocaine.
Coast guard officers on their daily patrol noticed a powerboat with 4 men onboard. When the police service approached the powerboat, the men started shooting. Fortunately, no one policeman was injured. When the criminals realized that their attempts to fling off the pursuers were futile, they left their boat dead in the water and flew the coop.
After the search of the boat, police found additional barrels for keeping fuel, two powerboat engines, seven new mobile phones, 15 masks, night-vision devices, portable radio sets and life jackets.
The total amount of the cocaine police found on the board of the powerboat is approximately 400-500 kg. The criminals are still being searched.
