The largest consignment of drugs intercepted in Malaysia

10.07.2012

Three million nimetazepam pills - sleeping pills, depressing the nervous system, were among the tobacco and spices on one of the ships, which arrived in Port Klang (Malaysia) via Hong Kong from India. Let us recall that this drug is banned in Malaysia.

Customs officers have arrested four Malaysians and one citizen of Bangladesh. If they will be convicted, the sentence will be a death penalty - the only punishment used in this country to drug traffickers.

Matrang Suhaili, the Deputy Director of the General Customs service, said: "This is the largest set, intercepted over the past 10 years. We are now reviewing our laws in order to expand our [customs] rights in the inspection of vessels and control the movement of goods. "

Last year the drugs for $ 58 million were seized in the country.
