Stimulators - killers: Death near the finish

The cases, when sportsmen were died during the competitions or exercising, are widely known, however those cases the reasons of which were overdose of stimulants or dopes are not   advertised.

The first documented death from usage of pharmacological means in the process of competitions took place in 1879 in France. At that time bicyclist from England was died from overdose of amphetamines during the race.

During the in 1960 in Rome, the Danish bicyclist was died from the same drugs, when he significantly increased dose with hope to achieve records. However all these deaths were practically unnoticed. Only, when during the famous long-term bicycle racing Tour-de-France in, the English sportsman was suddenly died before the millions of television viewers, this problem was announced. His name was Mommy Simpson. He was the talented perspective sportsman, who, however, actively used stimulating drugs - amphetamines.

Since that moment, International Olympic Committee started seriously to think about the problem, associated with doping. The growing of sport results did not vindicate increasing of number of sportsmen deaths in the process of competitions. Next year on the Olympic games in Moscow, the doping- control has been initiated first time. Its strictness in that time was relative and was oriented only to tests for several main stimulators. Currently the doping-control is one of the important regulating levers in the field of sport, which allows providing not only the fairness of sport results, but also protecting health of sportsman, who have the great temptation to use  drugs for achievement of phenomenal sport results.
