One among the crowd

Perhaps one of the worst consequences of drug use – is being left entirely alone.

Yes, of course, it is scary when your veins swell and form holes. It is scary when your skin peels off, making a wounds; when there are ulcers on your body, when you start to rot from the inside. But it is even worse to realize one day that you want to stop, quit drugs, but everyone just turned away from you. Then you wonder “whether you can stop using drugs?" and then you understand that this is very difficult, you can’t cope with it by yourself - treatment, rehabilitation, recovery... but nobody will help you. You are left all alone.  Tired parents have turned away...how many times they begged you to stop. Friends left because they need to study, work, give birth to healthy children. Even the society does not accept you, because it is so aggressively set against someone like you:

"Drug users and alcoholics are parasites and diseases of our society. Just as the cough and runny nose it has to be treated. And it doesn't matter how. As for me, any method would work, including liquidation (like cancer)."

"My uncle is a drug addict, and I think those wretches really should be killed immediately... They will sell their relatives at any available opportunity."

"Up against the wall? They should be burned alive. Thy are not human beings, not even animals. They are just monsters (nothing to say)."

This is your punishment for using drugs, you realize this, and it becomes unbearably painful. Painful than a new ulcer, painful than a new sore, more painful than an absolute explosion of the brain from the "overdose" ... The only thing that remains is to increase the dose, bring it to a "victorious" edge and die, forgetting that it was possible not to start once. Not having heard, even a single voice

"We are all human; we all have the right to make mistakes. So be human but not moral monsters."

that could reach out and pull you out of the pit.

But it's too late. You have to obey the call of the last break, forgetting that you are human ... or were once. You could have stay human... but why the awareness comes only when you are alone in the crowd?
