Questions

  • Doctors tend not to talk about "recovered drug addicts," and prefer the term "inactive addicts" – those who don’t use drugs right at given moment. In your opinion, is it not possible to get rid of this label? Even in the opinion of drug treatment experts, patients remain forever addicted. How can the modern society be taught to have an adequate attitude toward former drug addicts and consider them as a part of the society?

Society needs to understand that recovered drug addict – is a man of strong-willed, who can challenge himself. If society understands this, it will treat former addicts with respect. We all make mistakes and we all have sins. It is better to admit a mistake and correct it than to live with it. Doctors need to understand that the term "recovered" is better for a former drug addict than "inactive". Stories of recovered addicts about their successes after his recovery should be covered in the media. This will promote a positive attitude toward former addicts in the society

  • In you opinion how important is parental education and relationships within the family in preventing drug addiction?

Parents need to be friends to their children. They should know all about their friends, good friends are a reliable protection. On the contrary, if friends use drugs, they will encourage other people in their circle to use drugs as well. Raising awareness among parents is very important and 80% of drug prevention should be carried out among children.

  • What should be in the Internet age and growth of online communities in-formational methods to combat drug addiction? What do you think, what means will be most effective today, and how the state should behave in order to successfully affect the suffering of drug addiction and to conduct prevention among healthy population?

Drug addiction can be compared to a comet that crashed into Earth long time ago, but the effects are still destroying the planet. Man uses drugs when he doesn’t see a purpose in life, when he has no ambition, and this is the main cause of addiction in the world. I propose the following measures to combat drug abuse in this age of Internet technology: a) Undertake awareness-raising campaigns, where the information is automatically transmitted each day via e-mail to every Internet user in each state informing everyone about the dangers of drug abuse and educating them. B) focus on Facebook and Twitter for informational and educational campaign. c) Actively use television as one of the most important mean of influence around the world. d) Send the information via SMS to mobile phones. e) Offer cooperation to all manufacturers of cell phones on the introduction of special programs containing information about the risks of drug use into mobile phones. This program should come as part of the phone software.
